ふと自転車を走らせて、日曜、月曜と連日、噂の高輪ゲートウェイにできた「NEWoMan高輪」へ。着いた瞬間、思わず立ち止まってしまった。こんなに開放的な商業施設、今まで見たことがない。
新宿・渋谷では不可能な、圧倒的なスケール感
新宿や渋谷では絶対に実現できない、広大な敷地にまず驚かされる。2025年9月12日にオープンしたこの施設は、ルミネ史上最大規模の商業施設として誕生した。約180のショップが展開され、これまでの商業施設の枠を超えた「まちづくり」をコンセプトに設計されている。
施設内も広々としていて、息苦しさがまったくない。ターゲット層は新宿のニュウマンと似ているけれど、ボーコンセプトなどハイエンドなインテリアショップが入っているのが、高輪ならでは。無印良品もあるから、日常使いからハイセンスなものまで、幅広く揃う。
館内すべてが、インテリアショップみたい
特筆すべきは、館内の至る所に配置された休憩スペース。共用エリアなのに、まるでインテリアショップのショールームのよう。ハイセンスで近未来的な空間デザインに、思わず写真を撮りたくなる。
そして、来店客がとにかくオシャレ。洗練された雰囲気の人たちが多い。トイレのインテリアまで素敵すぎて、これもまた撮影スポットになってしまう。
地上150m、都心の別荘「ルフトバウム」
28・29階の高層階フロア「LUFTBAUM(ルフトバウム)」は、この施設の真骨頂。地上約150mの高さに広がるこの空間は、「森」と言っても過言ではないほど、緑に満ちている。
インテリアショップにも売っていないような、まるで業務用かと思うほど大きなアルテシマ(観葉植物)がたくさん。通路にまで伸び伸びと育つ草木、大きな木々が生い茂る庭園、生き生きとした壁面緑化。多種多様な植物がショップと共存する、まったく新しい空間がここにある。
いくつかのテーマの庭があり、それぞれが異なる表情を見せてくれる。レストランもこんな開放的な場所、他にはないだろう。カフェもレストランも充実していて、食の選択肢も豊富だ。
平日が狙い目！
休日は28・29階へ向かうエレベーターの長蛇の列ができていた。でも平日は空いていて、ゆっくり楽しめる。また、東京では珍しく外国人観光客を見かけなかった。高輪ゲートウエイ駅は、この商業施設しかないから、観光するにはプランが立てにくいのかもしれない。

そして、駅の施設で絶対に試してほしいのが、木製の自動運転カート。温かみのある木の質感で作られた車両が、自動で走る。見た瞬間、絶対に乗りたくなる。
このカートに乗って、湾岸エリアや品川エリアをレールウェイ越しに眺める感覚は、まるでプラレールの中の一部になったよう(笑)。大人なのに、童心に返ってワクワクしてしまう体験だ。
湾岸エリアを一望、羽田空港の迫力も
高層階からは品川・湾岸エリアを一望できる。羽田空港が近いこともあって、飛行機の低空飛行が間近に見られる迫力も魅力のひとつ。窓際の席を確保できたら、最高の時間が過ごせる。
完全に新しい、違う世界線
とにかく、完全に新しい。既存の商業施設の概念を覆す、まったく新しい世界がここにある。テーマパークと思って来たらいいほどの規模感だ！
何度も訪れたくなる場所が、自転車の距離感で現実になった。自分のオフィスのように、ノマドワーカーとしても毎週訪れたい。(笑)
Like a Theme Park! A New World at Takanawa Gateway: “NEWoMan Takanawa”
On a whim, I hopped on my bike and headed out—two days in a row, Sunday and Monday—to visit the much-talked-about “NEWoMan Takanawa” at Takanawa Gateway. The moment I arrived, I literally froze in place. I’d never seen a commercial facility this open and expansive before.
Scale Impossible in Shinjuku or Shibuya
What immediately struck me was the sheer size—something you could never pull off in Shinjuku or Shibuya. Opened on September 12, 2025, this complex is the largest commercial facility ever built by Lumine. With about 180 shops, it was designed around the concept of “urban development,” far beyond the typical shopping mall.
The interior feels spacious, with none of the suffocating atmosphere that malls often have. While the target demographic is similar to NEWoMan Shinjuku, the addition of high-end interior stores like BoConcept gives it a unique Takanawa edge. At the same time, it has Muji, so everything from daily basics to high-design items is covered.
The Entire Facility Feels Like an Interior Showroom
One of the highlights is the abundance of rest areas scattered throughout. Even though these are shared spaces, they look like showroom displays in an interior store—highly curated, stylish, and futuristic. It’s impossible not to want to take photos.
The people here are strikingly fashionable, too. The whole atmosphere feels polished. Even the bathrooms are so beautifully designed they’ve become photo spots in their own right.
LUFTBAUM: A Forest 150 Meters Above the City
The crown jewel of the facility is “LUFTBAUM,” located on the 28th and 29th floors. At about 150 meters above ground, it feels less like a rooftop and more like a forest.
Massive fiddle-leaf figs and other greenery—plants so large you’d think they were only used commercially—stretch across the walkways. There are lush vertical gardens, thriving shrubs, and themed gardens that each have their own character. It’s a living, breathing space where shops and plants coexist.
The restaurants here are equally remarkable—so open and vibrant you won’t find anything comparable elsewhere. Cafés and dining options abound, making it a foodie’s paradise as well.
Visit on Weekdays!
On weekends, the line for the elevator up to the 28th and 29th floors was endless. But weekdays? Practically empty, so you can wander freely. Interestingly, I hardly saw any foreign tourists. Perhaps because Takanawa Gateway is still a single-destination stop, making it hard to fit into a sightseeing itinerary.
Wooden Autonomous Carts: A Life-Sized Plarail
Another must-try is the wooden autonomous cart running within the station. Built with warm wooden textures, the vehicles glide automatically along the tracks. One look and you’ll want to hop on immediately.
As the cart carries you past the bay area and Shinagawa, it genuinely feels like stepping inside a Plarail toy set. I couldn’t help but laugh—it turned me right back into a kid.
A Bay Panorama with Airplanes in Flight
From the upper floors, you get sweeping views of Shinagawa and the bay. Because Haneda Airport is so close, planes often pass by at low altitude, creating a thrilling spectacle. Snag a window seat and it becomes the perfect escape.
A Completely Different Worldline
This is nothing short of revolutionary. A commercial space that overturns every previous concept. Think of it more as a theme park than a mall, and you won’t be disappointed.
Now that this world-class space exists just a short bike ride away, I can already imagine coming back again and again. Who knows—maybe I’ll even treat it like my personal office as a nomadic worker.
