当然ながら、御曹司の息子の結婚はすぐに親に知られることとなり、ここから事態は一気に急変します。真実の愛を信じていたアノーラでしたが、イヴァンの父親が送り込んだ3人の"お目付け役"と対峙することに。
しかし、彼らに屈することなく、アノーラは体当たりで立ち向かいます――これがもう、とにかく強い！叫び、暴れ、全力で抵抗し……ついには口をスカーフで塞がれるほどの大暴れ。圧巻の迫力で繰り広げられるこのシーンには、思わず息をのんでしまいます。
そして、このあたりから、イヴァンがただの御曹司ではなく、とんでもないトラブルメーカーであることが次第に明らかになっていきます。こうして、アノーラとイヴァンの関係は、甘いシンデレラストーリーとは程遠い、想像を超える波乱万丈な展開へと突き進んでいくのでした。

この物語の中で、彼女にそっと寄り添う存在が一人くらいいてもいい――そんな役割をイゴールが見事に担っていました。彼の優しさは派手ではありませんが、相手を思いやる静かな温もりがあり、それが観客の心にもじんわりと染み渡ります。
アノーラにとっての「安心」とは何だったのか
終盤のあるシーンで、豪邸のリビングにアノーラとイゴールだけが残る場面があります。ストリッパーとして働く日々の中で、アノーラは本能的に「男性＝自分に何かを求める存在」と警戒してしまう。しかし、イゴールは一切その気配を見せない。それは、彼女にとって、本当の自分をさらけ出すことができた瞬間だったのかもしれません。
ラストシーンで泣かされた理由
そして迎えるラスト。結局、イヴァンは母親の言いなりになり、結婚を白紙に戻してしまいます。本当に愛し合っていたはずなのに、彼は母の言葉を素直に受け入れ、あっさりとアノーラの手を離してしまいました。アノーラも最後には、それが最善の選択だと理解していたものの、掴みかけたものを手放す喪失感と、「頑張りすぎていた自分」に気づいてしまった虚しさが、静かに心を締めつけます。
何かを手に入れるために必死に頑張る気持ちは、誰しも経験があるはずです。でも、その頑張りを見守り、「そんなに無理しなくてもいいんだよ」とそっと寄り添ってくれる存在がいたなら――。
最後の最後で、言葉ではなく、ただその想いを受け止めてくれたのがイゴールでした。まさか、ここで涙を誘われるとは思いもしませんでした。
エンドロールでは、ただワイパーの音だけが響き、観客はその余韻に浸るのです……。

I went to see *ANORA*, the film that won five awards at the 97th Academy Awards. Since I watched it without any prior knowledge, I was a bit surprised by the strip club scene at the beginning, but I quickly got drawn into the story. What seemed like a Cinderella story at first suddenly took a turn with an unexpected incident, leading into a chaotic comedy, and finally, a tearjerking conclusion—an incredibly eventful 108 minutes.
The only actor I was familiar with was Yuriy Borisov, who played the tough-looking Russian in *Compartment No. 6*. His presence in this film was just as powerful. Mark Eidelstein, who played Ivan, is a young actor often referred to as "Russia’s Timothée Chalamet." This was reportedly his first English-language film, but he portrayed the reckless 21-year-old youth brilliantly.
And then there's the lead actress, Mikey Madison. At just 25 years old, she won the Best Actress award, and her performance was nothing short of breathtaking. She conveyed emotional shifts with delicate precision, elevating the entire film. Her all-out, physically demanding performance was so compelling that it would have been unfair if she hadn't won Best Actress!

### **The Social Themes in *ANORA* and the Role of Igor**
Beyond its surface as a Cinderella tale or a chaotic comedy, *ANORA* weaves in deep social themes. A key figure representing this is Igor (Yuriy Borisov), one of the bodyguards sent by Ivan’s parents.
Borisov, who also delivered a memorable performance in *Compartment No. 6*, portrays Igor as a character with a different pace and perspective from the rest of the cast. Despite being bitten by Anora during their encounters, he remains calm and fulfills his role as a bodyguard, while also, in subtle ways, offering her support.

Some viewers might wonder if there’s a budding romance between them, but personally, I see Igor as simply a genuinely kind person—someone who, like Anora, is in America but not truly "American," making him someone who understands her loneliness.
In a story full of turmoil, it felt right to have at least one character who could silently stand by Anora’s side. His kindness isn’t flashy, but its quiet presence lingers with the audience long after the film ends.

There is a scene near the end where Anora and Igor are alone in the living room of the mansion. As a stripper, Anora has instinctively learned to see men as people who always *want something from her*. But Igor never gives off that impression.

In the final moments, Igor is that person. Without words, he simply acknowledges her emotions and offers silent comfort.
I never expected this scene to bring me to tears.
