13歳の姪からLINE通話がかかってきた。
I received a LINE call from my 13-year-old niece.
姪：誕生日のあたり中間テストだから、その前に一緒にラフォーレ原宿と渋谷109に連れて行ってくれる？
Niece: I have mid-term exams around my birthday, can you take me to Laforet HARAJUKU and Shibuya 109 with you before then?
私：お、いいよ。先にご褒美だね。いいね～！
Me: Oh, sure. It's a reward first. Nice~!
姪：最近、地雷系女子なんだ。
Niece: I've been a bit of a Ground Mine Girl recently.
私：地雷系？どんな地雷系？
Me: Ground Mine Girl ? What kind of Ground Mine Girl?
姪：地雷系ファッション。
Niece: Ground Mine Girl fashion.
私：ああ。それか。
Me: Oh. Oh, that.
姪：私の推しが地雷系だから。今写真送るね。プリクラ撮ったの。

Niece: My favorite is that type. I'm sending you a photo now. I took a purikura.'

私：へー。なるほどね。
Me: Oh, really? I see.
姪：このブランドが好きなんだけど、大き目のスウェットの服なんだ。でも結構高い。
Niece: I like this brand, it's a big sweatshirt. But they're quite expensive.
私：確かに。大人でも高いかも。楽しみだ！行ける日を教えてね。
Me: Indeed. It might be expensive even for adults. I'm looking forward to it! Let me know when you can go.
姪：あとね、数学の証明問題がチョー苦手なんだけど。
Niece: Also, I'm really bad at proof problems.
私：へぇ。証明問題好きだったよ。よって、・・・であるとかだよね。
Me: I used to like proof problems. Like, "Therefore, something"?
姪：そう。
Niece: Right.
私：担任が数学の先生だったのもあるし、なぜか好きだったな～。
Me: I liked them, partly because my homeroom teacher was a math teacher.
姪：それと、ソウジが苦手なんだ。
Niece: And I'm not good at Souji（similarity in English).
私：ソウジも得意だよ。ソウジはスキルだから、誰でもできるようになる。マクドナルドに勤めていた時、店長に鍛えられたなぁ。
Me: I'm good at Souji, too. Souji is a skill; anyone can do it. When I worked for McDonald's, I was trained by a manager.
姪：いや、そのソウジでなく、相似。
Niece: No, not that Souji, but the similarity.
私：あはははは。相似ね。それも得意だったわ。今度教えるために、思い出しておくね。
Me: Ahaaaaa. No, not that souji, but a similitude. I was good at that too. I'll remember that the next time I teach you.
そんな話をしたあと、早速姪から日程の連絡がきて、今週の日曜日に決まった。それから、証明問題について、YouTubeで調べてみたら、なんとなく思い出した。中学生が最も苦手だという証明問題らしい。
After that conversation, my niece immediately contacted me about the date and we decided to do it on Sunday. Then I looked up proof problems on YouTube, and I remembered something about them.
「証明問題苦手な人が多いみたいだから、できれば目立てるぜ！」とラインした。
'They all seem to be bad at it, so if you can do it, you'll stand out!' I lined her.
「確かに！」と返事が返ってきた。
'Sure!' my niece replied.
原宿から渋谷の間で、証明が教えられるだろうか。頑張りたいと思う。(笑)
I wonder if I can teach proof problems between Harajuku and Shibuya. I'll do my best. (haha)
